Our H.O.G. Chapter loves getting out and riding as much as they can, but if there’s one thing they love almost as much it’s giving back to local causes. This August the Empire H.O.G. Chapter was on the road helping out some very worthy causes.
On August 7, 2016, the chapter participated in the Hudson Valley Ride For Kids in support of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Every year the chapter collects donations leading up to the event. At this year’s ride, over $51,000 was raised for the charity. A special recognition goes out to Empire H.O.G. member Robert “Pots” Pizzonia who personally collected over $5,000 in donations.
If that wasn’t enough, several of the very same members were back on the road just 3 days later in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. 5 members of our chapter made the 2 hour ride from the dealership in New Rochelle to Camp Oakhurst in New Jersey to spend a day with the campers at MDA Summer Camp.
MDA Summer Camp provides thousands of kids with muscular dystrophy and related muscle-debilitating diseases “the best week of the year.” At MDA Summer Camp, kids are living beyond limits in a place where anything is possible. It’s a week where they’re free to enjoy adventures like horseback riding, swimming and fishing, develop lifelong friendships, and build self-confidence and independence.
For the campers, it was a chance to meet some of our riders and see their amazing motorcycles up close and personal. For our riders, it was a chance to spend time with some of the most amazing kids we’ve ever met.
A huge thank you goes out from everyone at Empire Harley-Davidson to our amazing H.O.G. members for volunteering their time and representing Empire and the entire Harley-Davidson community so well.
